You might be country if.....

On the way home from dinner last night,we passed my favorite farm field. Now I know that not everyone has a favorite field, but I do. It is about halfway between our house and the town of Albion ,at the corner of Albion-Eagle Harbor Road and Gaines Basin Road. The north border of the field is the Erie Canal.I like the way the field slopes up gradually towards the west and each season has something to offer, visually. In the winter, when covered with snow,it is easy to see herds of deer crossing. I like when the Combines work through the night on the field, either getting ready for planting or harvesting what has been grown there. Once,at night, as I was driving home,I looked over at the edge of the field and saw 10 deer lined up waiting to cross. Another time,I stopped as several deer did cross the road from the field to the opposite side of the road. Following the doe and two half grown fawns was a kitten.....I can guess that the kitten was a feral cat. The county animal shelter is on one of the roads that border the field and unfortunatly people abandon cats there and they take to the fields to hide before they can be taken in.
I asked my husband if he had a favorite field and he mentioned one that is just west of us on our road. It is on the south side of the road and falls down steeply and away,to stretch out perhaps a mile or so to the south. It is not always planted in the same crop,so often has a patchwork look when growing. I don't have any pictures of the fields, but have included a lovely picture of my chickens.

These chickens are Barred Rocks and lovely to look at. They live in a beautiful coop that my son built for them. They do not have individual names, I just refer to them as the 'girls'.
